Hello to you all! My name is Karissa and I am the new Educator in the Richmond area with Little Red Fox. I am so excited to be given the opportunity to grow in this profession in an exciting new role with an amazing Home-based service. A little about me; I have 7+ years of experience in Early Childhood Education with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education and a current First Aid Certificate. I have two children, Elizabella, 11 and, Austin 15 and my partner of 20 yrs, I have lived in Richmond for most of my life, this is such a beautiful place where we enjoy fishing, biking. On my time off I love cooking and painting, reading, and enjoying spontaneous trips with my family on the weekends.
Moving from away from larger centres, I now want to open my home to you and your child and share the dedicated and passionate attitude I have for children to provide open holistic play experiences, learning opportunities through everyday experiences and draw on your child’s natural playful curiosity to discover the world around them, and care for your child’s wellbeing in all areas that will see them grow into their full potential, in a safe, secure and, caring environment. Messy play, art, water play, creativity, exploring, walks, café visits, playgrounds, nature exploring are just a few of the MANY experiences your child will be enjoying when they choose to spend their time with me. I have a strong focus and specialise in supporting children to be emotionally and socially capable through positive behaviour guidance strategies.
I believe….
It is important for your child to belong in a learning and caring space that is a home away from home to replicate your daily routines; such as sleep, meals, and etc
It is important that your child has the opportunity to spend more one-on-one interactions where your child is able to build a secure attachment with one person based on the 1:4 ratios.
It is important that your child’s interests and strengths unique to them are followed based on small group sizes.
It is that flexibility in the hours of care is available to help accommodate you and your family’s needs.
It is important that your child has the opportunity to regularly enjoy every day childhood experiences like going out for spontaneous walks the park, the pool, and other outings or everyday home experiences like baking, collecting the mail, hanging out washing etc.
It is important that your child is able to socialise and interact with the community and go to swimming lessons, music groups, playgroups or other special activities during the week.
It is important that you as the parent/caregiver can build a relationship with a key educator that can support and guide you through helping to grow and develop your child.
I look forward to meeting with you hopefully soon and starting an exciting learning adventure with your child!
